Watch police catch cabbie killer

Like an episode of “Cops” or “World’s Most Amazing Chases,” Midlands’ own Kershaw County police with the help of Lee County police and Richland County police were able to stop a high-speed pursuit of a know cabbie killer.

WIS brings us this amazing video. It shows Kyle Rivers, who stole a Midlands cab, killed the driver and was fleeing police, is stopped using “stop sticks.” He eventually shot himself in the head, but before that you can see what the officer went through to stop the chase.

“It could’ve been a lot worse, if our guys wouldn’t have gotten that school bus out of the road,” said Chief Joe Floyd.

A neat fact? The department has been using “stop sticks” for 10 years, but this is the first time they’ve been successful with them.
