It doesn’t take Jim Gandy to know the weather is crazy today. One look out the window and you can see that there’s no way anyone would go outside unless they absolutely had to.
Gov. Nikki Haley and Mayor Steve Benjamin will still light the State Christmas Tree Monday night but with a lot less hoopla.
A report by WIS say that because of weather that is expected to roll into the capital city, the 45th annual Carolighting at the State House complex has been canceled.
Haley’s husband and children, as well as Benjamin and his family, are still expected to flip the switch on the north steps of the State House and light the tree, but the mayor says it won’t be the same.
“My family and I look forward to the Carolighting every Christmas and we’re very disappointed that the weather refused to cooperate this year,” Benjamin said. “I would like to thank all the volunteers for their hard work and tireless commitment to this wonderful event and for filling us all with the holiday spirit.”
