Where will we get chili-cheese-bacon tater tots? Salty Nut Cafe catches fire

Everyone's favorite place for tossing peanuts on the floor, sinful fried food, and drinks on the best deck in Five Points caught fire overnight and officials say it could be months before they are able to open again.

An over night fire at Salty Nut Cafe has caused thousands of dollars in damage.

Just seeing the pictures gives us the shakes wondering where in the world we are going to go to get our fix for chili-cheese-bacon covered tater tots. Or a cheeseburger wrap. Or a non-kids-menu Corn Dog and Grilled Cheese.

A report by WLTX says an early morning fire was put out at The Salty Nut Cafe on Green Street in Five Points and officials say the damage, although not destroying the building, did cause thousands of dollars in damage which would take months to repair.

Authorites say there was heavy black smoke when firefighters arrived at 4:30 Friday morning and the building is totally destroyed on the inside.

Chief Jenkins said the last employee left at 2:00 a.m. and what happened between that time and 4:30 a.m. is not clear. The building didn’t have a sprinkler system which is what aided in the total damage of the inside of the restaurant.

Luckily, no injuries have been reported, other than the residual effects not having our favorite guilty-pleasures.
